What caused a population shift to the Sun Belt AND What new house-hold product added to the growing number of people moving into this region?

Jobs, informal segregation, and air conditioning--The migration to the Sun-belt were conservative white people leaving the diversifying more liberal north and with the introduction of air conditioning the heat was now bearable.

The Sunbelt migration contributed to a liberal-conservative split regionally. The migration created informal segregation in the country. The Southwest became a place of retirement communities and a place for the elderly.
