Most former colonies still are part of the developing world.

When they were colonized, the colonies majorly depended on the colonizer to increase their economy. When they became free from colonizer rule, the former colonies had an unstable economy. The colonies became too dependent on their motherland, so they fell apart during decolonization.

Additionally, after decolonization, these former colonies were led with corrupt or unfit government officials, which slowed down the process of their industrialization even more.

One example of this can be seen with Africa’s decolonization with Britain.
