Why do you think there was such a violent reaction to the civil rights movement?

    Privilege, racism and bigotry. People "in power " were essentially able to live a life where minorities were never a threat. But once it seemed like African Americans had a chance at becoming some sort of equal, anti protests and demonstrations arised.

    Because some people didn't want things to change therefore they start using violence to play antagonist rule in the history
