What was the first two goals of the D-Day invasion

    One goal was to take Germany by surprise by invasion. However, Germany was prepared. The other goal was to was to win the war, obviously.

    This answer depends on how specific you want to get. While the overall objective was suppose to be a surprise attack, the immediate objective was to secure the beach head and immediate perimeter so that reinforcement and supply's could land. Secondly, was each landing group had specific interior targets to reach, where along with airborne assault, they would push inward to Germany, taking back Paris from the Nazi infestation.
