Three of the following are reasons why the Renaissance began in Italy. Which is NOT? Italian cities were ruled by feudal monarchs and nobles. Italians could see the remains of Roman civilization around them. Italy had extensive trade with Byzantine and Muslim lands. Wealthy people supported artists and scholars.

    The Renaissance was not a result of the Roman civilization being around the Italians. It was a result of feudal monarchs and nobles, the extensive trade with the Byzantine and Muslim lands, as well as wealthy people who supported artists and scholars.
