    Douglass concluded that the system of slavery in America was anti-liberty and violated hundreds of thousands of slaves' natural rights. Arguing from the perspective of someone who had been a slave, Douglass argued from his own authority that the very foundation of slavery was by design anti-liberty, anti-life, and anti-american.
