What did Lyman beecher do in the movement

Lyman Beecher worked as an educator and a lobbyist in spreading protestantism to the western frontier. His goal was to train ministers who would go west as the country was expanding and try to make protestantism the official religion of the region. He was a famous figure because of this and was highly respected among all.
