When did the french withdrew troops from mexico what encouraged them to do so?

    The French withdraw their troops from Mexico because the Americans were already advancing on them and the rebel Mexican troops were already approaching Mexico City. This happened in 1866 while Louis-Napoleon was the leader of the French Army.
