The united states constitution is called the living document because it was created with the purpose of being able to grow and change (just like a living thing) with the changing needs of the country.

The United States Constitution is called a "living document" because some feel that it was originally designed to be modified, amended and reinterpreted throughout time in order to evolve with the changes of the society where it was implemented. It is something that has and can continue to change as society progresses.
