The creation of interchangeable parts greatly changed the workforce, as it called for an increase in the amount of unskilled labor needed. Before interchangeable parts, goods were produced from start to finish by an individual or group. Each of the goods they mad were similar, but not exactly the same.

With the creation of interchangeable parts, now workers could be hired to repeat a simple task over and over again. The focus on interchangeable parts called for a work force that is able to repeat a simple set of directions.
