    • Establishes Separation of Powers

    •Consent of people through voting

    -Denies absolute or arbitrary power

    •Separation of Powers (power is divided amongst three different branches)

    •A system of Checks and Balances

    -Applies to the government specifically

    •Reserved powers for the states

    •The constitution puts limits on the federal government

    -Enumerates particular powers the government has and denies all others

    •The states keep some powers (reserved) that the federal government doesn't have

    •Delegated powers are granted to the federal government

    -Is written as the supreme law of the land

    •Everyone in the US must follow the Constitution
