    Slaves were supposed to be taken to the United States by ship, however, they organized a rebellion and freed themselves and took the ship to the Bahamas which was British territory. Since Britain had banned slavery in its colonies, they let the men go free. When the ship arrived to New Orleans, the Americans were angry because they suffered economic losses due to Britain.
