The curriculum was shaped to teach Nazi values and beliefs of racial superiority.

Alfons Heck was one of those indoctrinated as a young person and became a Hitler Youth leader. Later in life, Heck spoke out against what he had been part of in his youth. He described his childhood education this way: "F rom our very first year in the Volksschule or elementary school, we received daily doses of Nazism. Never did we question what our teachers said. We simply believed what was crammed into us."

Over 90% of teachers in Germany during the period of Nazi government belonged to the Nazi Teachers' Association, and more than 30% of teachers were full Nazi Party members. The schools were a main means by which the Nazi program was pushed into the national consciousness.
