Out of the available choices here, I would say that the correct answer is probably that Ancient Greek and Roman culture survived, but only until the fall of the Western Roman Empire. Although Constantinople had influences from the Greeks and Romans, after the fall of the empire in 476, a lot of the buildings holding this Greek and Roman history and knowledge was destroyed. It is debatable, however, whether or not Ancient Greek or Roman culture truly ended in such an abrupt way.
