One position of authority in congress is Speaker of the House. Paul Ryan is the current speaker, elected by other members of the House of Representatives. A second position is Minority Leader. Nancy Pelosi currently fills this role, and she was elected by the members of the House of Representatives. A third position is the Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, elected to this position by the members of the Senate.
