There were no choices, however, the major belief of Sikhism comes with the Guru Granth Sahib. It is their holy doctrine. This tells the right actions of a man during the times he is in the world. Following the doctrine would lead to peace and salvation of the soul. This would lead to change or evolution. It is the duty of man to love God through his service and also to remember Him at all times.
