A mixture of mercury and one more metal is called an alloy, when creating alloy it is then paired with an alloying agent, which is another metal or other material that makes up the remaining portion of the substance. Amalgam is an alloy of mercury with another metal, it is the silver filling material used for more than 150 years to restore primary and permanent teeth.
