Why were the interstate commerce act and the Sherman antitrust act created by the federal government

    In order to limit or control big businesses. The Sherman Antitrust Act banned trusts, therefore limiting big businesses such as John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil Company and Andrew Carnegie's Steel company.
