Well after the Revolutionary war, the people didn't want to take any rules from government. This led a largely held belief in state's rights and state rule. Thusly the Articles of Confederation didn't allow for much central government. This led to problems and the revision and drafting of a new Constitution. The division continued in the role of government and how the new nation should be governed
