    Stalin rapid industrialization from the top transformed Russia from a peasant economy to an industrial and military society regardless of costs. such costs included the wanton arrest, killing and suffering of the ordinary Russians. It is estimated that millions of Russians died in his administration as a result of difference of opinions.
