How were the Puritans different from the Pilgrims? The Puritans remained within the church, hoping to reform it. The Puritans separated completely from the church. The Puritans drafted the Mayflower Compact.

    While the Pilgrims were Separatists, the Puritans were non-separating Congregationalists they believed the Church of England was the one true church and they were loyal to England, but not in the way they worshiped. They believed that "New England"
