    New inventions and an economic slump in Europe led to the division of Africa for raw materials and new markets. During the Scramble for Africa, Europe was immersed industrial revolution where steam engines, and steam boats were invented and medicines for quinine were developed. This lead to the continuation of exploring Africa after they canceled it because of malaria.
