A naturalized citizen is a person who was born an alien, but has lawfully become a citizen of the United States under the U. S. Constitution and laws. An applicant must be 18 years old and have been lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence.

The definition: to be admitted to the citizenship of a country.
