How do elected officials try to reflect the interests of the citizens they

represent when they create new laws?

    when they get into these roles, people find out that they cannot just do those things. You cannot just be an expert or just be a representative because the citizens don't want that. Citizens want to be heard. So there's a great deal of surprise from experts and officials as to how great citizens' expectations are.
