Economic Growth is a necessary but not sufficient Condition for Development discuss

Economic growth refers to the increase in a country's income or gross domestic product. This also translates to an increase in revenue. However this economic growth doesn't translate to development because when there is uneven distribution of the wealth of the country then the growth isn't sufficient enough for the development of the country.

For instance if the gap between the rich and poor is big and the main beneficiaries of the growth are the elites then it translates to a poor basic amenities such as healthcare and educational system for the masses which has a larger population. This explains why economic growth doesn't translate to development.
