    The ratio of nickels in a quarter (there are 5 nickles in a quarter) to the number of quarters in a dollar (there are 4 quarters in a dollar) is 5:4.

    Since the nickles are first and there are (1.00 /.05 = 20) 20 nickles in a dollar the first number is 20 then next is quarters and there is (1.00 /.25 = 4) 4 quarters in a dollar so the second number is 4 so now u have to simplify if you were told to

    the number 20 can be divided by 4 and the answer is 5 the number 4 is next divide by 4 and is 1 so the whole answer is 5 to 1 or 5:1
