Step 1: Simplify both sides of the equation
1/2 p = p + - 1 / 4
Step 2: Subtract p from both sides
1/2 p - p = p + - 1 / 4 - p
-1 / 2 p = - 1 / 4
Step 3: Multiply both sides by 2 / (-1)
(2 - 1) * (-1 2 p) = (2 - 1) * (-1 4)
p = 1 / 2 or in decimal (0.5)
