Assuming you want the inverse of f (x) = x²-2,
f (x) = x²-2
repalce f (x) with y
y=x²-2
switch x and y
x=y²-2
solve for y
x=y²-2
x+2=y²
√ (x+2) = y
replace y with f⁻¹ (x)
f⁻¹ (x) = √ (x+2)
the inverse is √ (x+2)
