Is it really x2 - 2x because that will not work.

    First we take the first equation y=x2 - 2x + 4 and substitute it for the value of y in the second equation ... giving us, 8X + (x^2 - 2x + 4) = 20

    8x + x^2 - 2x + 4 = 20

    combine like terms x^2 + 6x + 4 = 20

    subtract 20 fm both sides x^2 + 6x - 16 = 0

    factor (x + 8) (x - 2) = 0

    set both factors to = 0 x + 8 = 0 x - 2 = 0

    solve x = - 8 and 2

put these amounts into the regular equation to get the value of y

leaving the correct answer as C.
