First, we determine the area of the original rectangle by multiplying the original length and width. This gives us, area = (5 ft) (10 ft) = 50 ft²Then, we add the additional area while adding 2x to both dimensions of the rectangle. That is, area = (5 + 2x) (10 + 2x) = 50 + 84The value of x from the equation is 2.17. Thus, each side is added with approximately 2.17 ft.
