    First thing we shall do when solving this is to simplify both sides of the equation:

    2x^2+3x+-3/18 = 123

    Second thing we are going to do is s ubtract 123 from both sides:

    2 x^2 + 3x + - 31 8 - 123 = 123 - 123

    2 x^2 + 3x + - 1015 / 8 = 0

    Now it's time to use the quadratic formula with a=2, b=3, c=-126.875 so:

    x = - b ± √ b^2 - 4a c / 2a

    x = - (3) ± √ (3) ^ 2 - 4 (2) (-126.875) / 2 (2)

    x = - 3 ± √1024 / 4

    So the answer is:

    x = 29/4 or x = - 35 / 4
