One car rental agency rents a basic car at a daily rate of $37.95 plus 40 cents per mile. Another company rents a basic car for $42.95 plus 30 cents per mile. Find the mileage for which the cost is the same.

    Let x be the mileage that will cost the same

    37.95 + 0.4x = 42.95 +.3x

    0.4x - 0.3x = 42.95 - 37.95

    0.1x = 3

    x = 30

    Ans: 30 miles
