Molly says that 4/8 is always the same as 1/2. Andrew says that 4/8 and 1/2 are equivalent fractions, but they could be different amounts. Use the models below to determine which student is correct. Explain.

    They are equals, but, they can be used as a percentage for an amount. For example

    1/2 kg = 500 g

    1/2 ton = 500 kg
