Problem: How many lunches and sodas can you buy for $100 if a soda costs $2 and lunch costs $7?

Work through the following questions to find your solution to this problem.

1. Write an inequality to represent the problem. Use x for soda and y for lunch. Remember this is an inequality and you need to choose the appropriate symbol (it is not = ).

2. List 3 different possible solutions to this problem. Try to get as close to $100 as you can.

3. What is the maximum number of times you can have a lunch and soda together?

Suppose you want to have at least 3 times as many lunches as sodas.

4. Write an inequality to represent the second problem. Use x for soda and y for lunch.
