2) The domain of the following relation: R { (3, - 2), (1, 2), (-1, - 4), (-1, 2) } is

    A relation is a set of ordered pairs (x, y).

    The set of all first coordinates, that is of all x'es, is the Domain of the relation.

    The set of all the second coordinates is the Range of the relation.

    1)

    Domain : {-1, 1, 3}, Range: {-5, - 4, 2}

    2)

    Domain : {-1, 1, 3}, Range: {-4, - 2, 2}

    Answer: 1) {-5, - 4, 2}, 2) {-1, 1, 3}

    Remark: Each number is written only once in the Domain and Range set.
