Devin won a tiny bouncy ball at the school carnival. The diameter of the ball is 1.25 inches. To the nearest hundredth of a square inch, what is the surface area of the ball?

    Given that the ball is in the shape of sphere the surface area will be calculated using the formula of the sphere:

    SA=4πr²

    where:

    r=radius=1.25/2

    Hence:

    SA=4*π * (1.25/2) ²

    SA=4.9087 in²~4.91 in²
