A scale drawing of a rectangular room has a length of 6 inches and a width of 4 inches. The drawing uses a scale of 1 inch to 3 feet. Find the cost to carpet the room if carpeting costs $5 per square foot.

    Since, an inch is to 3 feet, the length would be 18 feet and the width would be 12. To get the area, multiply length and width. The product would be 216 square feet. If a square foot costs $5, 216 square foot multiplied to $5 would be $1080 which is the cost to carpet the room.
