Okay. So say that there's this multiple-choice question on a test or quiz that you're currently taking, and you're not sure what step to take first. You would use the 'Process Of Elimination' to eliminate the options you know aren't going to work out as an answer to your question, and by crossing out the ones you won't be using, you'll end up with the last possible choice, and your answer.
So say the question is : What is the texture of wool gloves? (This is just an example, of course.)
A) Rough
B) Soft
C) Feathery
D) Sharp
We consider A. Are wool gloves rough? Wool isn't a rough material, so no, wool gloves aren't rough. We can rule out A. B is a possibility, because wool gloves are quite soft. Feathery is a maybe, but we all know that the texture of wool gloves is simply sort of soft, not feathery. And we can also rule out D, because wool gloves are most definitely not sharp.
So, after having ruled out all the impossible answers, we're left with the only one : B) Soft. And wool gloves are soft! And that's how the Elimination Method works. This is a random example, but in math, you do the same thing: you rule out the answers that aren't going to work out, and in the end, you end up with only one, possible answer.
