First you put the fractions on top of each other like a regular addition problem
then you find the common multiple of both the denominators because in order to add the fractions they must have an equal denominator here is an example:2/4+2/2 next to 2/4 you would write x1/1 so you keep the denominator and numerator then next to the 2/2 you would write x2/2=4/4 which has the same denominator as 2/4 then you can add then get a mixed number 6/4
