A monk crossbred plants, which can have purple or white flowers, and obtained 576 plants with white flowers and 293 plants with purple flowers. Find the empirical probability that a plant had each type of flower.

    Probability = probability if event occurring / total probability

    Given:

    Probability if event occurring:

    White Flowers: 576 Plants

    Purple Flowers: 293 Plants

    Total Probability: (576 + 293) = 869 Plants

    Solution:

    P of white flowers = 576 / (576 + 293) = 0.66

    P of purple flowers = 293 / (576 + 293) = 0.34
