Solve 2x2 + 26 = 0 to identify the roots.

    There are no roots;

    In this case, you just rearrange to get x but you will end up square rooting a negative which is impossible.

    This can be verified by finding the discriminant, which is less than 0 meaning the equation has no roots.

    Likewise, if you imagine what the graph looks like, it is a steep x^2 graph which just touches the x axis at the origin translated 26 units upward. The result is a graph that is far above the x axis and does not touch it and therefore there are no roots or solutions (x-intercepts).
