How do I solve - 5 (u-3) = 4u-3

    Remember you can do anything to an equation as long as you do it to both sides

    first, distribute

    remember, negative times negative=positive

    distributive proeprty is a (b+c) = ab+ac

    so

    -5 (u-3) = 4u-3

    distribute

    -5u+15=4u-3

    add 5u to both sides

    15=9u-3

    add 3 to both sides

    18=9u

    divide both sides by 9

    2=u

    u=2
