The remaining kittens are brown. C. Draw a diagram. Draw 10 kittens. Cross out 5 of the kittens, then cross out 3 kittens. Circle the remaining kittens. D. Work backward. There are 10 kittens. Add 5 for the number of white kittens and another 3 for the number of black kittens. The total is the number of brown kittens.

    D would not correctly solve the problem it is adding more kittens instead of eliminating the ones already known
