    Equation D. t = 12c shows how many bottles of water Josh bought.

    Explanation:

    The first three equations would NOT give you the answer, because if you divide, you'll find out how many bottles are in each case.

    If you subtract and add, it'll also result in the wrong answer, so D is the right equation.
