First you convert 10 kilometers into meters so that you are working with the same units. So you figure out how many meters are in a kilometer which is 1,000.

    I kilometer (km) = 1,000 meters (m)

So with that you can find how many meters are in 10 km which is 10,000 m.

Now divide 10,000m by 500 to find how many marks there will be

There will be 20 marks overall (I got that # by dividing 10,000 and 500, shown as 10,000/500)
