Recognize that there are several cubes here.

    27x^3-8 = 3^3*x^3 - 2^3, which is the same as (3x) ^3 - 2^3

This latter result is the difference of cubes, and thus it can be factored further as follows:

    [ (3x) - 2 ][ (3x) ^2 + 6x + 4]
