I lined up all my snakes. The two pythons are 6 feet each. I also have three corn snakes that are the same length. Altogether, my snakes total 21 feet.

    Given:

    2 pythons : 6 ft each

    3 corn snakes : same length

    Total length = 21 ft.

    Let x be the length of one corn snake.

    2 (6ft) + 3x = 21 ft

    12ft + 3x = 21 ft

    3x = 21 ft - 12 ft

    3x = 9 ft

    x = 9ft/3

    x = 3ft

    Each corn snake is 3 ft long.

    3x + 12ft = 21ft
