    -12x + 8y = 6 is equivalent to

    2x - (4/3) y = - 1 ... (i)

    -14x + 21y = 21 is equivalent to

    -2x + 3y = 3 ... (ii)

    (i) + (ii) : (5/3) y = 2

    y=6/5

    Then 2x = 3 - 18/5 = - 3/5

    x=-3/10

    Hence x=-3/10, y=6/5
