    To find the inverse, you flip the x and y and solve for the new y

    x = 3y + 9

    subtract 9 from both sides

    3y = x - 9

    divide through by 3

    y = (1/3) x - 3

    therefore your inverse equation is

    y = (1/3) x - 3
