    X - number of adult tickets

    y - number of child tickets

    9x + 4y = 7680

    x + y = 1020

    y = 1020 - x

    9x + 4 (1020 - x) = 7680

    9x + 4080 - 4x = 7680

    9x - 4x = 7680 - 4080

    5x = 3600

    x = 3600/5

    x = 720

    720 adult tickets were sold.
